Impact of covid-19 on stock market A Panel Data Analysis

Abstract


The global financial markets have been influenced by the COVID 19 pandemic. This is because there has been a reduction in stock market prices. The author shares his views of how the pandemic of COVID 19 has influenced the Indian stock markets. The study is based on different sectors that rely on two models: the historical models and econometric models. The results of the data from the COVID 19 were analyzed using the R program. We have an example of 5 big companies from NSE stock exchange from 2018 to 2024, variables of opening, closing, volume, and market capitalization.

After the Covid 19, the companies' stock market and share prices declined. The major top 5 companies in diverse sectors were considered for research and study and it was discovered that there is a positive effect brought by Covid 19 to the Indian stock market. The conclusions made during the results suggested that the relationship between the stock market and Covid 19 is positive and statistically significant.
