Workflow Management through Kanban: A review
Abstract
Workflow management is crucial for businesses, especially small-scale industries that encounter unique challenges in managing their workflows efficiently. This paper focuses on the Kanban system as a solution, which originates from Japanese manufacturing practices and uses visual cues and a pull-based approach. The methodology involves visualizing the workflow, setting work-in-progress limits, employing a pull-based system, and continuously improving processes. Through these steps, teams can streamline operations, improve communication, and address bottlenecks effectively. The paper explores Kanban's principles, adaptability, successful implementations across industries, benefits in resource optimization, and waste reduction. By adopting Kanban, small-scale industries can navigate workflow challenges, enhance operational efficiency, and achieve sustainable growth in a competitive business environment.
