Abstract

This research deals with reliability analysis of multi-stage centrifugal pump for crude oil export. The task included the examination of siphon disappointments and breakdown utilizing unwavering quality procedures for a time of 5 years on a portion of the parts of a multistage siphon. The methodology used in this study is the Monte Carlo simulation model for computing reliability using failure rate, meantime between failure, repair rate, availability and reliability. The components analyzed in this research were the pump shaft, impeller, seal, motor and bearing for the 5 year period. It was generally observed that the reliability was at its highest in the first year and lowest in the 3rd year for most of the components. This was due to regular breakdown of the equipment during that year which caused a lot of downtime for the machine. The crude oil export pump was analyzed for a 5-year period, during which the various kinds of maintenance schedules were noted and computed for the parts of the multi-stage centrifugal pump ranging from the shaft, impeller, mechanical seal, motor and bearing. It was discovered that these parts of the pump had regular breakdown which affected the overall performance of the pump, the overall reliability was 29% for both the first and second year. The reliability reduced to 15.5% on the 3rd year due to regular breakdown but had a 5% increase to 20.1% on the 4th year. By the end of the 5th year, the average reliability increased by 2 % to maintain a 22% in year five. Finally, a model was defined utilizing numerical programming from the singular reliabilities of the parts in the multistage siphon which can be utilized to anticipate the future presentation of the siphon. This model uses the time span (a long time) to decide the dependability of the siphon. The results from the model were 70% similar to the computed model which conforms with the predictability of the model. This research recommends that adequate servicing and maintenance be done regularly with genuine parts for the pump to avoid further breakdown and low reliability of the multistage pump.
