Abstract


Pimecrolimus cream belongs to the class of topical calcineurin inhibitors (TCIs) and is a prescription non-steroidal drug. The FDA has approved it for the treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. The mechanism of action, administration, side effects, contraindications, monitoring, and theoretical toxicity of topical pimecrolimus will all be covered in this article. This information is relevant to healthcare professionals who treat patients with atopic dermatitis and other inflammatory skin conditions.
