Abstract

Traditional healing practices and modern pharmaceuticals offer distinct approaches to healthcare, but they can be surprisingly compatible. Home remedies, deeply rooted in our cultures, remain popular because they're generally inexpensive, readily accessible, and often carry a legacy of familial trust. On the other hand, prescription medicines benefit from rigorous scientific evaluation, expert oversight, and a well-understood mechanism of action.

To explore how people perceive and things these two therapeutic avenues, we conducted a survey in Delhi and surrounding regions. The goal was to understand their attitudes toward both traditional and pharmaceutical treatments, as well as their understanding of the benefits and risks associated with each. We gathered inputs from 53 participants, all adults aged 18 or older, using a detailed questionnaire.

The survey findings revealed a tendency to favor prescription medicines when facing serious or potentially life-threatening medical problems. This suggests a reliance on the perceived strength and scientific backing of conventional medicine in critical situations. Conversely, for minor ailments, such as common colds or headaches, participants often preferred home remedies. This could be attributed to the accessibility and familiarity of these traditional practices.

Importantly, the survey also thing a potentially concerning knowledge gap regarding the interactions between herbal remedies and prescription medications. The participants don't consult doctors when mixing and combining the two approaches, which could happen interaction between drug and herb and cause a negative impact on the patient.

It things the value of a approach that combines the best of both  worlds  for  improved patient outcomes.  There  are so much traditional medicine and it is very important to mix it with modern medicine to create synergy between the two and better medication.

Equally important is the need for improved patient education and encourage open communication between patients and healthcare providers.

In conclusion, a balanced and educated approach to healthcare, combining the wisdom of traditional healing with the advancement of modern medicine, holds the way to safer and more outcomes for individuals and communities.
