Abstract

This paper presents the Conceptualization and Implementation of a solar-powered eco-friendly cooling system aimed at providing a sustainable and energy-efficient alternative to conventional electric air coolers. The proposed system utilizes renewable solar energy to power a low-wattage blower fan and an evaporative cooling mechanism, significantly reducing dependence on grid electricity and lowering operational costs. A photovoltaic (PV) panel converts solar radiation into electrical energy, which is regulated through a charge controller and stored in a rechargeable battery to ensure uninterrupted functioning during low-sunlight periods. The cooler employs an evaporative cooling process, where ambient air is drawn through water-soaked cooling pads made of environmentally safe material, resulting in a notable drop in temperature without the use of harmful refrigerants. The system integrates a DC water pump to maintain continuous water circulation across the cooling pads, while optimized airflow channels improve heat exchange efficiency. Experimental testing demonstrated that the eco cooler can achieve a temperature reduction of 7–12°C, depending on humidity and environmental conditions, while consuming significantly lower power compared to conventional system.
