Safety Monitoring of Pressure Gauges in Industrial Processes: A Case Study Approach
Abstract
Pressure gauges play a vital role in monitoring and maintaining safe operating conditions across a wide range of industrial processes. Accurate pressure measurement is essential not only for operational efficiency but also for ensuring safety, preventing equipment damage, and avoiding catastrophic failures. However, improper installation, calibration errors, and lack of monitoring can lead to hazardous incidents. This research paper investigates the importance of pressure gauge safety monitoring with a focus on process reliability and worker protection. A case study from an industrial plant is analyzed to highlight common issues such as gauge over-range, leakage, and fatigue failure. Preventive measures including regular calibration, digital monitoring systems, safety barriers, and redundancy are discussed in detail. The findings emphasize that effective pressure gauge monitoring enhances process safety, extends equipment life, and reduces downtime. The case study demonstrates how implementation of a safety monitoring protocol led to reduced accident risk and improved compliance with industrial safety standards. This study contributes to safety engineering literature by providing a structured framework for integrating pressure gauge monitoring into industrial safety management systems.
