Designing and Assessing Early PSS Concepts

Srikanth K.V

Abstract

Numerous manufacturing companies have recently been drawn to the opportunity to differentiate themselves from rivals by including services related to products in their traditional portfolio. However, businesses are not properly supported by the right tools and methods during this transition. The majority of approaches to PSS design, in particular, concentrate on the requirements generation and identification phases of the design process and limit their application to "service design." In the few cases where they do, the approaches analyzed only address one of the two phases of concept development and evaluation. Accordingly, the point of this paper is to propose the Item Administration Idea Tree (PSCT) technique. This aims to suggest a structure that could be used to identify, gather potential PSS solutions, and manage their evaluation (i.e., the best PSS to implement). In addition, it contains instructions for industrial practitioners to use it with ease. To demonstrate the proposed method's industrial applicability, an application is also presented.
