Gesture-Driven Secure Short-Range Communication Protocol for Contactless Data Transfer

Abstract


With the rapid expansion of mobile devices and IoT ecosystems, secure and intuitive short-range communication has become a critical requirement. Conventional methods such as NFC and Bluetooth are vulnerable to unauthorized interceptions, accidental pairings, and user interface complexities. This paper proposes a Gesture-Driven Secure Short-Range Communication Protocol (GSSCP) that leverages gesture recognition as a unique authentication and initiation mechanism for data transfer. By integrating inertial measurement units (IMUs), ultrasonic sensors, and short-range communication technologies like UWB (Ultra-Wideband) or encrypted NFC, the system ensures that data transmission occurs only when synchronized gestures are detected between communicating devices. Experimental validation demonstrates low latency (<50 ms), improved pairing security, and high gesture recognition accuracy (98.4%). The proposed approach enhances user experience while significantly strengthening short-range communication security.
