Two-Stage Air Compressor Design and Analysis
Abstract
Many industrial processes benefit from compressed air. In order to supply the necessary compressed air at desired pressures, multistage compressors are extremely important. The design and analysis of the cylinder and piston of a two-stage respondent air compressor with provisions for both low pressure and high pressure stages are explained in this work. For both the low pressure and high pressure phases of the suction and compression stroke, a restricted element model of the cylinder and piston is constructed, and ANSYS is used to analyze these parts. In order to identify the areas that are most likely to fail and the location of the highest concentration of stress.
