A Method for Camless Engines
Abstract
Compared to a conventional engine, an engine with an electrohydraulic camless valve train that can completely control valve motion has many advantages. By eliminating the need for cams and springs, the system lowers engine weight and height while using electromagnetic forces to open and close the valves. The electromagnetic force of the valve transforms the spring's potential energy into kinetic energy during valve acceleration. The energy of valve motion is restored to its starting position during deceleration.
