Abstract

Ventricular arrhythmias (VA) are defined as arrhythmias that originate from the ventricular myocardium or His-Purkinje system. Ventricular tachycardia (VT), ventricular fibrillation (VF), premature ventricular contractions (PVC), and ventricular flutter are among the subtypes of arrhythmias that fall under this category. All tachyarrhythmias with a QRS complex duration of more than 0.12 seconds can be explained by wide complex tachycardia (WCT). VF is a WCT caused by irregular electrical activity and manifested by a ventricular rate of normally greater than 300 with discrete QRS complexes on the electrocardiogram (ECG). This activity explains the causes, pathophysiology, and presentation of VF and highlights the role of the inter professional team in its management.
