Abstract
The adrenal cortex produces powerful steroid hormones called glucocorticoids. They are crucial for controlling immunological response, metabolism, and stress response. Because of their potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, synthetic counterparts (such as prednisone and dexamethasone) are frequently recommended; nevertheless, prolonged use may result in metabolic adverse effects.
