A Case Study on Performance Analysis of Chain Drive Conveyor System

Avdhut Gujar, P. Bamankar, A. Awasare

Abstract

This paper presents the design, analysis, and performance evaluation of a chain drive-based conveyor system used for industrial material handling applications. The study focuses on optimizing the transmission efficiency, load-carrying capacity, and durability of the drive components. Experimental and analytical methods were used to evaluate the torque transmission, speed ratio, and wear characteristics of the chain and sprocket assembly. Results indicate that chain-driven conveyors offer superior strength, minimal slippage, and consistent performance under heavy loads compared to belt drives. The findings support the suitability of chain drives for continuous and high-load operations in manufacturing and logistics industries.
