IMPLEMENTATION OF AUTOMATIC STREET LIGHT USING SOLAR POWER
Abstract
To improve energy efficiency, lessen reliance on grid electricity, and support environmental sustainability, this paper describes the design and development of a solar-powered automatic street lighting system. Integrating renewable energy into public lighting has become essential due to growing global energy demand and rising electricity costs. Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, LED lights, battery storage, and intelligent controllers with LDR and PIR sensors are all included in the suggested system. Based on ambient light and human activity, these sensors guarantee dynamic illumination and automatic switching. When compared to traditional lighting systems, performance evaluation under various climatic conditions reveals better energy savings, longer battery life, and greater reliability. This study highlights the usefulness, affordability, and long-term viability of solar-powered street lighting in both urban and rural settings.
