Misuse of Social media and Legal Consequences (Information Technology (IT) Act)
Abstract
Social media has significantly influenced the legal system, reshaping legal proceedings, evidence collection, and public perception of justice. This paper explores the role of social media in court trials, its impact on juror impartiality, legal ethics, and law enforcement practices. It also examines the challenges posed by digital evidence, privacy concerns, and the growing phenomenon of "trial by media." Additionally, the study proposes potential solutions to mitigate the negative eects of social media while leveraging its benefits to enhance transparency and accessibility in legal processes.
