Gallbladder: Function ,Metabolism, Pharmacological and Disorder

Dil Prasad Subba

Abstract

This review article states that the gallbladder, a small, pear-shaped organ situated under the liver, has an important role in storing bile, aiding in the digestion of fats, and regulating metabolism. It regulates the bile acids, which are important for fat-soluble vitamin absorption, and influences overall metabolic health. Gallbladder dysfunction is quite common, the most common form being gallstones, resulting in acute cholecystitis, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia. The organ also interacts with the immune system via its microbiota and epithelial cells in the process of influencing systemic health. Management strategies in the treatment of gallbladder diseases include pharmacological agents, surgery, and lifestyle changes such as consumption patterns, exercise, or adjuvants. The review spotlights the multifaceted roles of the gallbladder in metabolism, immunity, and disease, underscoring the need for holistic approaches to management: pharmacological, surgical, and lifestyle approaches.
