Experimental Investigation on Flexural Behavior of Ferro-Cement Channel
Abstract
Ferrocement is a versatile construction material characterized by its thin sections, high tensile strength, and cost-effectiveness. Precast ferrocement channels have potential applications in lightweight roofing, drainage structures, and modular components where flexural capacity is critical. This study investigates the flexural strength of precast ferrocement channel specimens under two-point loading. Specimens were cast using cement mortar (1:2 mix) reinforced with galvanized wire mesh. Experimental tests were conducted to evaluate load-deflection behavior, cracking load, ultimate load capacity, and failure modes. The findings demonstrate the suitability of ferrocement channels as an efficient alternative for lightweight structural elements.
