CONTACTLESS SMART LOCKER SYSTEM USING RFID
Abstract
In today’s world of digital automation, safety, convenience, and hygiene have a significant impact on daily life activities. Traditional locker systems depend on physical keys or manual password entry, which can lead to key misplacement, password leakage, or direct contact that may cause hygiene concerns. In order to resolve these limitations, the paper puts forward a Contactless Smart Locker System based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. The system is developed using an Arduino microcontroller as the main control unit, an RC522 RFID reader module used for identifying users, and a solenoid lock for secure locker access. Each user is provided with a unique RFID tag, and only authorized tags allow the locker to unlock, enabling fast and touch-free operation. Experimental testing confirms that the system operates with high accuracy, low delay, and stable performance in real-time conditions. This smart locker setup is highly suitable for public places such as colleges, offices, gyms, libraries, hostels, and delivery centers, offering a secure, hygienic, and user-friendly storage solution.
