CRISIS CONNECT : REALTIME DISASTER MANAGEMENT
Abstract
Natural disasters and man-made events can lead to devastation on a large scale, requiring immediate and well-coordinated reactions. In traditional disaster response system, the information reporting is lagged and resource assignment is ineffective. To overcome these challenges, we propose CrisisConnect - a cloud-based platform for real-time disaster alert and resource coordination through state-of-the-art data analytics with support of live APIs and interactive dashboards to improve situational understanding and decision-support.
It processes continuum of social media, government, and sensor feeds to detect, verify and visualize the underlying disaster events in real-time. Leveraging Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning models, CrisisConnect filters and categories crisis related informations.
