A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of PPT Presentation on Knowledge and Attitude Towards Nursing Profession Among Junior College Students in Selected Junior Colleges of Pune City

Abstract


Background of the Study: Despite being regarded as an auxiliary profession to the medical profession, nursing has not yet achieved full social recognition and generally does not have a very positive image in the public eye. It is a major concern in many countries that young people are not willing to choose nursing as a career. If the students are knowledgeable and have a positive attitude toward nursing, they will be attracted to nursing professions. This was felt strongly during the recent pandemic. Objectives: 1. To assess the knowledge and attitude among junior college students towards nursing profession. 2. To find the effectiveness of PPT presentation on knowledge and attitude towards nursing profession among junior college students. To find the association between pretest and post test score of knowledge and attitude towards nursing Methods and Material: Quantitative research approach was adopted for the conduct of this study. For this study, a descriptive research design was used. Data for this study was gathered from a few Pune city junior colleges. Students from Pune's junior colleges made up the study's population. 200 Junior college students are selected for main study. A non-probability convenience sampling technique was used for selecting 200 junior college students who set in the criteria for data collection, Major findings: The data suggests a positive shift in knowledge scores following the intervention, with a marked reduction in poor knowledge and increases in both average and good knowledge levels. The intervention was highly effective in reducing negative attitudes, with all individuals moving out of that category.
