Structures, Types, Issues of Concern, Cellular Level, Function, Clinical Significance of Physiology of Carbohydrates
Abstract
Carbohydrates are one of the three macronutrients in the human diet, along with protein and fat. These molecules consist of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms. Carbohydrates play a crucial role in the human body. They act as a source of energy, aid in the metabolism of insulin and blood glucose, participate in the metabolism of triglycerides and cholesterol, and aid in fermentation.
